Hi Suraj,
Fertilizer requirements are determined primarily by the type of plant you grow, the cropping system in which you grow it, and by the quality of the soil. Plant species vary in their nutritional requirements. For banana in Hawaii we use a 13-3-36 fertilizer that also contains the minor elements (farmers apply about 1/2 pound of this fertilizer per month per production unit in my area). Banana farmers also periodically add agricultural lime and perhaps extra boron or other other minor elements, based on plant symptoms or an analysis of leaf tissue samples. Please refer to the following document more for information about banana fertilizer and bunch management practices: http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/nelsons/banana/ripeningbunchmanagement.pdf. High-yielding monocropping farming systems demand more fertilizer inputs. Soils with low nutrition will require more inputs than rich soils. The answer to your question is somewhat complex and requires more information and data about your location and your crops. Scot |
